E-ARK3 Consortium (2020–2022)

The E-ARK3 consortium (2020–2022) advanced the work of its predecessor, E-ARK4ALL, by further developing and expanding the Core Services Platform for the eArchiving Building Block DSI. Over the course of the project, E-ARK3 focused on maintaining and updating the existing set of specifications to ensure their relevance, while also adding new guidelines and broadening the range of Content Information Types Specifications (CITS). Notably, the project extended its scope to include eHealth, alongside the previously established CITS for databases, geodata, and Electronic Records Management Systems (ERMSs).

To support these developments, E-ARK3 delivered updated and new software services, as well as training and validation testing for both the specifications and the tools. The project’s technical work was informed by proof-of-concept use cases, and by the end of the two-year initiative, plans were outlined for pilot programs and further actions to encourage the adoption of the eArchiving Building Block.

Alongside these technical efforts, E-ARK3 implemented an extensive outreach program. Building on the activities of E-ARK4ALL, the initiative aimed to deepen engagement with stakeholders across the public and private sectors, including enterprises of all sizes, national and regional authorities, aggregators, content providers, and individual citizens. The goal was not only to promote the use of open eArchiving services but also to encourage active participation in their ongoing development.
